Due to the current global situation regarding COVID-19, The Undergraduate Business Symposium will be held virtual for 2020.

Dear Symposium attendees and sponsors,

The Undergraduate Business Symposium Core Committee stands in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. We’ve taken the last few weeks to listen and reflect on what we can do to help, so we appreciate your understanding of our delay in releasing this statement.

Racism, xenophobia, and/or prejudice of any kind directly conflicts with the mission of Symposium to connect students and companies, engage in meaningful ways, and ultimately help students grow professionally. Now is not the time to be silent, but rather to use our voices to raise up Black individuals and all marginalized people in communities in which we participate. We believe firmly that everyone should feel welcome, valued, and wanted in all aspects of life, including their careers.

What we’re doing now:

  • CONNECT - Proactively invite Black and minority owned businesses to participate as employer sponsors at Symposium.

  • ENGAGE - Restructure our Diversity networking sessions with help from professors and students at UNC Kenan-Flagler. We welcome your suggestions!

  • GROW - Connect directly with diversity related student organizations to invite students of diverse identities to Symposium 2020 this fall.

What you can do now:

If you have questions or recommendations on how we can make the Undergraduate Business Symposium as inclusive and supportive as possible, please email Additionally, we recognize the stress these events cause members of our community, especially the Black community, and encourage any UNC student needing help to utilize the following available resources - Office of the Dean of Students or Counseling and Psychological Services.

In solidarity,

2020 Symposium Core Committee members and advisors
